Pat's Dogs and Doghouses

I finished this quilt in June, but was waiting until after it was gifted, just in case :)  Pat made this quilt for her daughter and son-in-law as a wedding gift.  What a lovely gift.

The quilt is large enough to fit nicely on our king bed.
This quilt got a custom treatment, with lots of ruler work.   The dogs got some different types of 'fur', and they all have hearts.  The snouts, noses, bones, eyes and balls are wool.  Love the plaid snouts!
And the houses had some different siding and roofing choices.  The beadboard border was meant to represent the fence around the yard.
Some of the doghouse builders were exacting, and used new siding all of the same size (see below left) and other builders 'farmered' them together with what was on hand, and thus of varying widths (see below right).

some of the dogs are under fluffy clouds, and some have stormier clouds...oh, and in the top corner...

I had a lot of fun quilting this quilt.  Also, I must say, Pat's piecing was so nice, it was easy to work with.  Pat chose a wool batting, and it drapes so nicely.

  2. I love how you added so many variations in the quilting of the dogs and the houses. Very cool.
